Jupiter before midnight

Jupiter has departed from the company of the pre-dawn planets (Mars, Saturn, Venus, Mercury) and has begun coming up over the eastern horizon well before midnight.

The Moon, which passed close south of Jupiter a day ago (Jan. 28 0h Universal Time, or 7 PM eastern North American time on Jan. 27), now rises an hour after it, and tomorrow at this time Jupiter will be free of Moon-glare.
