This passage, emerging on the seaward side of the buildings, becomes a short path that looks down leftward on the tops of the gardens behind houses on the Marine Parade. The path, following a contour of the hillside, curves to the Masonic Hall, site of events ranging from a Save the Children gift sale to a lecture on Roman Dorsetwith the distraction of the seascape below the windows. Once we heard a Dorset storyteller (Raymond) and folksinger (Will, from Marshwood). "This song's from Puddletown", said Will, and gave voice to a most beautful strain with the refrain of "Though I live not where I love . . . "
