Astronomy Day

It’s Spring Astronomy Day, and this is the sky scene that should greet you as evening falls.

Astronomy Day is held on a Saturday nearest to the First Quarter Moon.  The Moon was at its First Quarter position yesterday, and is now well up along the ecliptic, out of the picture to the top left.  The proud constellations of winter evenings are dropping out of sight – they’re almost as if they’re throwing themselves down behind a barricade – but there’s plenty to see in those on the northern side of the Milky Way.

I hope that you can find a clear sky near you, and an observing event near you by going to: https://www.astroleague.org/al/astroday/astrodayform.html
